Crockpot Red Cabbage with Apples

Red cabbage with apples and onions and vinegar and sugar.

Cook Time: 9 hours

Ingredients:

  • 1 large head of red cabbage, washed and coarsely sliced
  • 2 medium onions, coarsely chopped, about 1 cup
  • 6 tart apples, cored and quartered
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons bacon grease or butter

Preparation:

Place cabbage, onions, and apples in the crockpot. Sprinkle with salt. Combine hot water, sugar, vinegar, and bacon grease or butter; pour over cabbage mixture. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours. Stir well before serving.
